Maitai Recreation Hub Opening
May 21, 2022 – 10:00 am – 2:00 pm NZST
Come and join the Nelson Mountain Bike Club and the wider Nelson community for the public opening of the Maitai Recreation Hub. Everyone is welcome – whether you mountain bike, scoot, skate, walk or just want to check it out!
Activity Schedule for the Day
10.00am: Guided ride from the I-Site to the hub along the newly upgraded Maitai Valley Trail.
10.30am – 10.45am: Pump Track Session – guidance on how to ride a pump track including pump track etiquette.
11am – Music – Parallel Park – featuring 16yr old Florence McNabb as lead vocalist – Nelson’s national road racing and mountain bike champion!
11.30am: Social Ride – Grade 2-3 – Maitai Valley Trail Loop
11.30am – 11.45am: Pump Track Session – guidance on how to ride a pump track including pump track etiquette.
12pm: Gravity Nelson Kids Demo
12.30pm: Social Ride – Grade 4 – Koata Whenua / Koata Rere Loop.
12.30pm – 12.45pm: Pump Track Session – guidance on how to ride a pump track including pump track etiquette.
1pm – Pump Track Demo – locals showing what can be done on a pump track!
All Day (from 10am – 2pm)
Shuttles – From 10am and then on demand, Gravity Nelson and Helibike Nelson will be shuttling Central Road for those that want to do a quick ride down the classic “Mr Chomper” or the well-groomed “Loam Ranger”. Koha for the Shuttles and masks must be worn in the vehicles.
GABE – The Gravity Air Bag Experience – have a go! Entry by koha.
Skate Ramp Half Pipe – switch it up and have a go on the Half Pipe. Awesome for developing skills or just for jamming and having fun!
Smoothie Bike – Make your own smoothie – by bike!
