Our final trail trail update for 2022.
We’re super excited to announce that we have managed to secure two major funding grants over the past few weeks. Firstly, a massive thanks to New Zealand Community Trust for their grant of over $70,000 towards trail repair for damage sustained in the August floods. The second grant for $14,000 is from The Lions Foundation towards the new Maitai Climbing trail. This grant will allow us to get started on this exciting new climbing trail that will give riders access to the Maitai Face trails directly from the Maitai Valley Road! Thank You!
We had hoped to be able to open Sharlands for a brief stint, over Christmas and New Years, before forestry operations continued in 2023. Unfortunately due hazards this isn’t possible and we’ll need to wait until the harvesting is completed before we’re riding in Sharlands again.
We all know this time of year gets very busy on the trails, not only with locals enjoying some much needed holiday riding but also from visitors from out of town. Let’s ensure that everyone visiting and riding the trails remembers Nelson for the friendly and fun atmosphere we know so well – so if you see someone on the trail say Hi!
