It’s with heavy hearts that we share that, due to changes in the global distribution structure of the Santa Cruz, Juliana and Reserve brands, Hyperformance Hardware’s sponsorship of NMTBC is coming to an end.

Hyperformance Hardware has been an advocate and supporter of mountain biking in Nelson since 2005. Their contribution has included trails, events, media, advocacy as well as support to help local riders reach the world stage.

Owners Mike Stylianou and Sandra Williams have always insisted that their sponsorship dollars go straight back into initiatives that directly benefit mountain biking in our region.

Over 20 years, their support has been extensive and varied — from the smallest gestures to major contributions that have shaped our community as mountain biking has grown. Their involvement has included support for the rescue helicopter and the purchase of a Wairoa Gorge EPIRB; and event sponsorship ranging from spot prizes to significant cash support for events such as the OG Ngatimoti Firepit Pump Track, the world-famous Super D’s, the Single Speed Champs, the Coppermine, the NZ Enduro, the Dodzy Memorial Enduro, the Aorere Enduro, the Mammoth Enduro, and Shred Like a Girl.

Their trail contributions span from the original old-school Auckland Point pump track to the Butters Trail and De La Luna, as well as one-off donations for storm damage — from Heaphy repairs many years ago to a generous $10k donation to reinstate NMTBC trails after the 2020 rain events.

Hyperformance Hardware has also played a major role in elevating Nelson on the national and international map. Their advocacy and media support have included hosting industry visitors, assisting with Santa Cruz launches — from the Stigmata and Highball on the Old Ghost Road to the Megatower launch at Wairoa Gorge — and helping bring Spoke and NZ Mountain Biker to Nelson multiple times for reviews and feature articles.

Supporting riders to reach their goals and compete on the world stage has always been one of Mike’s passions. There are too many athletes to list here — but they know who they are.

For the past nine years, under the Santa Cruz logo, Hyperformance Hardware has proudly stood with NMTBC as Gold sponsorand we are incredibly grateful for their long-term commitment to our trails and our community.

Over the last five years, their support has funded the upkeep of one of Nelson’s most-loved tracks, Butters — built with assistance from the Santa Cruz Paydirt Fund. They also provided NMTBC with a Santa Cruz Bullit E-Bike, which has become indispensable for our trail builders, volunteer medics, and event organisers.

Sponsorship is essential to NMTBC’s ability to operate, and the duration and depth of Hyperformance Hardware’s support has made an extraordinary and lasting impact on our club.

To Mike and Sandra: thank you for everything you’ve given to our club, our riders, and our trails. We have deeply appreciated your unwavering support.

And if you’d like to continue supporting this awesome local business, it’s business as usual until 31 March 2026 so time to treat yourself to a new Santa Cruz or a Reserve Wheelset! View the NZ range at https://hyperformance.nz/

Mike and Sandra would like to shout out to everyone in the Nelson mtb community who has helped us out and made Hyperformance Hardware family, it’s been a great ride THANK YOU!
