On Saturday 13th August and Sunday 14th August NMTBC, with the support of Koata Ltd and Tasman Pine Forests Ltd, have secured temporary, partial access to the currently closed Hira Forest.

NMTBC members can access the Maitai Face trails (Keyboard Warrior, Maitai Face, Loam Ranger, Mr Chomper) via:

• 571 Maitai Valley Road (Maitai Whare Iti) or,
• Linton Hill Track.

NMTBC will be monitoring access during the weekend.  Access will be on the following conditions:

1. Hira Forest is CLOSED.  We have secured temporary, partial access to the Maitai Face trails only for this Saturday and Sunday.  As per usual access to Hira Forest, entry is for members only.
2. Access is via private land – access at your own risk and follow signage.
3. There is no exit via Central Road– you must exit the forest via the Maitai Face trails only.  Any breach of this condition will cancel any future access.
4. If members are driving up the Maitai, please park at the Maitai Hub, then ride up Maitai Valley Road to the entry point beyond the campgroud.
5. If this weekend goes well, we will be able to access the Maitai Face Trails further during the Hira Forest closure, so please follow the entry conditions.

CAUTION: These trails have not been ridden since May.  We have a team checking them on Saturday morning, but expect some treefall/slips on the trails.
