The Backyard Funduro

Good honest club racing — no frills, just trails, mates, and a solid day out.

We’re keeping it simple: turn up, ride, race your mates, and enjoy some of the best tracks in the network. No shuttles, no over-complication — just a proper grassroots enduro.

Profits from this event will go towards helping some NMTBC members chase podiums on the world stage! We’ve started an event fund that we hope to grow over time!

Rider briefing notes

📍 Course

Turners, Top Dog (from the very top), Hotbox (from the road) and Mr Chomper

NOTE: If the weather is terrible for this event please expect it to be adapted or postponed. The current race trails damage easily.

Format:

Riders can ride the stages in any order, just have your timing chip back by the 2pm cutoff!

Minimal taping – stick to the main lines.

Categories: E-bike, U13, U15, U19, Open (19 – 29), Masters 1 (30 – 39), Masters 2 (40 – 49), Masters 3 (50 – 59) and by popular demand – Masters 4 (60+)

🕘 Event Schedule

  • 9:00am – Volunteer briefing & ride to position
  • From 9:00am – Timing chip collection
  • 9:45am – Rider briefing
  • 10:00am – Course opens
  • 2:00pm – Timing chip return closes
  • 2:30pm – Prize giving & sausage sizzle
  • 4:00pm – Debrief at The Vic

🤝 Event Vibe & Expectations

This is about good people and good riding:

  • Look out for each other — if someone crashes or needs help, stop and lend a hand
  • Ride fair — no jumping on someone’s wheel to chase a faster time
  • Party trains are fine for fun, just keep it safe and respectful
  • Wear appropriate protective gear (if you own a full face, knee pads, body armour etc then it’s recommended you wear it!)

💰 Entry Fees

  • NMTBC Members: $30 (must show membership)
  • Other Top of the South Club Members (Golden Bay, Blehiem): $40
  • Non-members: $50
  • Family entry: $80 (This allows parents to enter with their kids at a maximum price of $80 for the family.  Immediate family only)
  • Optional donation: Profits from this event will support our NMTBC international racers – feel free to add an donation! If you have a business that would like to sponsors this event please email info@nelsonmtb.club
