Access agreements to Ngāti Koata land (Codgers-Maitai, Sharlands and Fringed Hill Road) expired in June this year. To date, NMTBC has managed the agreement for Sharlands while NCC has managed the agreements for the rest. At the invitation of Ngāti Koata, both NMTBC and NCC are working to secure long-term continued access for recreation on this private land. While details are worked through for potential longer term access, a three month extension has been granted to the existing agreements. NMTBC & NCC is doing all it can to ensure access is secured.
