Rounds 1 & 2 of the Top of the South DH series, Marlborough 1, 2 August.

The event saw over 70 riders on each day take on the two very different styles of DH tracks. Saturday's race at Taylor Pass Forest was loamy, off camber and fast! Top spot in the Open Women's category was taken out by Fiona Murray, while her brother Charlie would take out 1st in Open Male in a stacked field. Then on Sunday riders would head to Jentree MTB, a very different style of track, with old school gnar, rocky, open and fast with some jumps to finish the race in style. In Open Women Fiona Murray and Rae Morrison fought a tight battle with Rae taking the win. Racing in the Open men was just as tight with the top 5 Men all within 3 seconds of each other. Sam Blenkinsop would edge out Kieran Bennett by half a second to Win.
Thanks to Marlborough MTB Club for putting on such a fun event!
Results are on the NMTBC website.
The next rounds of the Top of The South and Nelson DH series have been postponed due to Covid Level 2. We are instead running a fun 3 stage Enduro on Saturday 12th September on Kaka, Broken Axe & Face. Look out for a race report next month.
The team running our DH events are in need of a few volunteers for marshalling and other duties. If this sounds like something you are keen to do email firstname.lastname@example.org
